The Green Planet

An interesting visit is to The Green Planet in Dubai where the environment of a rainforest with numerous species of flora and fauna has been reconstructed.

Dubai is a city that boasts many attractions but one of the most spectacular for adults and children alike is definitely The Green Planet, a special indoor park located in the City Walk Dubai area. Inside, the environment of a rainforest has been recreated and is home to more than 3,000 plant and animal species and an interesting trail leading to the discovery of this ecosystem.

Visit the Green Planet

Ideal for visitors of all ages, the Green Planet in Dubai is located inside an original building in the pedestrian area of City Walk surrounded by numerous shops and restaurants. The environment of a rainforest has been reconstructed here with numerous species of flora and fauna including numerous birds, reptiles and fish.

The main part is a large dome, called a bio-dome, which houses a 25-metre high tree and is divided into four levels (Canopy, Midstory, Forest Floor and Flooded Rainforest). Each floor features a different type of plant and different breeds of animal, with a total of more than 3000 species to admire.

Green Planet is also a site that is committed to promoting sustainable ecological practices and presents routes on sustainability and recycling education. In addition to this, the site collaborates with several local universities on research projects related to animal behaviour, conservation, breeding and welfare.

Campaigns are also conducted against the illegal trade in animals, especially with regard to certain protected species. In addition, during the day, the centre’s experts organise various events in contact with the animals to allow visitors not only to see them up close but also, sometimes, to interact with them.

Among the most popular activities are snorkelling to discover the marine world and camping in the rainforest. It is also possible to enter the bat cave, touch an emerald boa and admire up close some of the sloths that live here and sleep 15 to 20 hours a day. In addition to these, there are several species of birds and some squirrel monkeys that are nice to watch as they hop between the trees using their long tails to keep their balance.
